Supre isn't as bad as you all think!

Everyone always shuns you when you tell them you bought that item of clothing from supre. Not even justified. Just by default. So not cool, guys. I mean sure, they catered for that fluro phase that we all deny going through back when we were 14. But when you take a walk through the store you'll find some well-priced items of clothing that are actually pretty awesome.

I bought this skirt in the red colour from supre for $35. I've had so many compliments on it and whenever I say it's from supre, the reaction is always surprise. BUT SERIOUSLY GUYS. SUPRE IS AWESOME. I even saw some random girl wearing it and went up to her and was like, "I know where your skirt is from... I have the same one!" And we had a little bonding moment over how supre is actually awesome.

Another debate regarding supre is the quality of the clothes. Sure, I can admit, it's not that fantastic. But to be honest, it's not like you're paying for quality?! By the time the item of clothing is out of season it would have been well worn, so I don't know why people complain about that. If you're looking for good quality basics in lots of different colours, head over to Zara and you'll find it there. If you're a bit low on cash, Supre is perfect. Especially in the scenario when you're going out and have nothing to wear and need a new dress. Grab one for $40. Wear it out a couple of times. Then chuck it out. No biggie, no money lost.

So I dare you all to head into Supre, have a look around... and I'm sure you'll find something you like :)

A bit of a call out...

This is for anyone with an interest in a career in radio. I am looking for a co-host for my radio show Saturday Vibe. Chris, the guy who co-hosts with me now, is leaving within the next 2 weeks which leaves me a bit stuck. I am looking for someone MALE, sorry girls :(. And if you are around my age that would be perfect (18) but no harm if you are a bit older or younger. Saturday Vibe airs from the Triple H studios which are located in Hornsby from 5pm to 7pm on Saturday evenings. The aim of the show is to get people vibed up for their Saturday nights. We talk about anything that is of interest to our generation, we have movie reviewer Marni, sports reporter Matt and entertainment reporter Drew. We also take song requests throughout the night, and only really play party or "vibey" music. It would be good if you have some kind of experience in radio but if not, still apply! Spliced Anorak from General Pants at $89.95 AUD

I bought this one in store, and it caught my eye cause it's so weird. I probably wouldn't wear it as a top (maybe actually, we'll see when I try and outfit it next time) but probably as an overcoat on top of a long sleeved top or a singled with leggings. I'd also like to point out this was an impulse buy. I was planning to refund it if my mum didn't approve, but lucky for me, she seemed to love it, so that worked out well for me. Not so much for my bank account though, but anyway.

DO I EVEN NEED TO LABEL THESE WONDERFUL THINGS?

YEAH SO I HAVE BEEN WANTING THESE FOR MONTHS AND I REALISED THAT THE AUSSIE DOLLAR WAS SO GOOD, THAT I DECIDED TO BUY THEM AFTER CONSULTING PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE ONLINE ON FACEBOOK CHAT. I BOUGHT THEM ONLINE AND I AM SO VERY HAPPY AND EXCITED TO RECEIVE THEM. By the way, anyone interested in buying these shoes - you can actually get them in Australia. I didn't know you could! But there's a boutique in Bondi called Tuchuzy that stocks them. Get buying!

Varsity Crop Knit (Cream) from Nasty Gal at $48 US

I've been looking for a cropped knit for a while to wear over my summer dresses on the cooler days. Even though we are going to be coming out of winter soon, there's always that awkward transitional weather though spring and into summer. This will be perfect for then. I can't wait to receive this in the mail woohoo!

Lexie Lace Skirt from Nasty Gal at $34 US

I got this one online on sale, it's actually down to $28 now and was originally $64. This will be nice all year round, and I've already got like 5 outfits planned to wear with this skirt. Yay for being organised and planning ahead!

Maddy Oversized Knit from Nasty Gal at $68 US

I saw this and fell in love with it immediately. I've only got one other knit and it's red, so it will be nice to build up my knit collection. I love this colour, it will go with a lot of my things! It's quite expensive but .... well, let's just hope it's really good quality.

So as you can see I'm pretty obsessed with Nasty Gal, always have been really. It's because they keep sending me email updates with new stock and their lookbooks are always so awesome. And they even have a 'Most Wanted' section which shows their most popular items and I usually end up buying from there. Grrrr to awesome marketing skills that result in my poorness. So yeah I can't wait till I receive all my stuff! YAY!

Amy Winehouse

I'd just like to make a small point about Amy Winehouse's death.

She was a very talented singer. She won 5 grammy awards and had countless records and was loved by many people around the world. However there is no doubt she was troubled by her addiction to drugs and alcohol. I've heard a lot of people say they are disappointed that Amy Winehouse's death overshadowed the terrorist attack in Norway. Others don't hesitate to tell everyone they really don't care because it was a self inflicted death and there are millions of people around the world that die every day from disease. But the truth is none of us are aware of what she went through that brought her to her final day of living. She was loved by millions of people around the world. She was famous. That is why her death has received so much attention. There have been many celebrities that have battled with similar problems, Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger, Bruce Lee just to name a few. So... yeah. RIP Amy.

The Tragic Tale of the Shoes

So although I haven't really blogged in an extremely long time (sorry about that, if you even noticed), there have actually been a lot of things happening these uni holidays that I'd love to share with you. I went to Perth for a week to visit my BIFFLE4LYF aka Jazz, and we had such an amazing time. Although Perth is a bit of a hole, there are some lovely cultural things about it. I'll tell you more another time. Because today I want to ramble on about a bit of a dilemma I came across the day before I left for Perth. I remembered that my wonderful black platform wedges I had purchased from Glue had broken.

Remember those? Yeah well the back of the heel had practically broken off and ripped apart. And it happened like, the third time I wore them. And it's not like I went bush climbing in them or anything. I hadn't even noticed until my boyfriend told me my shoes looked broken when we were out one Saturday night. So I was about to fly out to Perth the next day, where I was going to want to wear these shoes a lot and they were broken. I was pretty devastated until I remembered the other pair from Betts. Although they were more expensive, they were the other option when I was contemplating buying this style of shoe. So I had to come up with a plan to get a refund on these crappy Glue ones.

I pretty much stormed into the store and was very firm in asking for a refund, complaining that they were faulty and I had only worn them three times. Working in retail really helped me understand the refund/exchange/faulty item policy and I knew that if I was stern enough they would just think, "oh, we don't want to deal with her attitude, lets just give her the stupid refund." And it worked. 

So I walked over to Betts, praying they still had a size 8 in their shoe, and alas, they did. I tried them on and bought them straight away, my mind finally at ease that I would have a pair of platform wedges to take with me to Perth. And holy moly crapoly. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn.

I don't even feel like I'm wearing heels, they don't give me blisters, I can actually wear them all night and WALK HOME FROM THE STATION without feeling like I need to amputate my foot. EVERYONE GO BUY THESE SHOES IF YOU WANT TO GET WEDGES! Your life will be complete.

Okay, this next tale is even more tragic.

So I saw these amazing stone coloured lace up suede wedges, again at Betts, that would be perfect for a night out in the city for dinner, or a job interview, or anything which requires shoes that are a tad more formal but not the occasion for intense heels. I bought them one afternoon about 10 minutes before the shop was to close, absolutely ecstatic. The next day I was to go to the shopping centre for the day so I thought I'd wear them in. 

Here comes the sad part.

By about 2pm that same day, my boyfriend informed me (he's always the bearer of bad news when it comes to my shoes, hey?) that there was something wrong with my shoes. I had a look and it seemed that the inner side of the shoe was chafing. And it wasn't even, a subtle chafing. The inner layer was like, pink, which was obviously a massive contrast to the stone colour on the outside. I was absolutely devastated, and being the experienced person I am when it comes to demanding refunds, I stomped into Betts and explained to them what had happened.

The wonderful stone coloured suede wedges that were stupidly designed cause the inner layer is pink. WTF. Who he hell came up with that idea?

They somehow managed to convince me that it was a faulty batched and gave me an exchange for another pair. They even waterproof sprayed it for me. And this time I was really careful when I walked not to bump my feet together (not that it should matter, a couple of bumps shouldn't cause chafing). But, much to my dismay, that same afternoon it seemed as if the shoes had begun chafing again. I was sad. 

So the next day I went back and told them I just wanted a refund. I was sad to say goodbye to these lovely shoes. But there was no way I was gonna pay 80 bucks for a pair of shoes that developed pink spots on the inside as a result of simple walking.

With the money I got back I bought a pair of knee-high black boots, the style of which I had been searching for for a while. They seem to do me a lot better.

So that, my friends, is the tragic story of the shoes. 

i need a manicure!

Last week I went to get my nails done again, this time I got a new colour. I love it. Nude nails are definitely in at the moment (according to Sophia).

Whilst I was speaking to my nail technician, she informed me of many different options I have for manicures. I was quite surprised at the number of options I have. So, in order of thickness of the nail, here goes...

Acrylics

BAD BAD BAD BAD. I don't even know why they exist. Pretty much they file your nail down so they're thin as paper and glue plastic on top to add strength and length. Then when you take the nails off, it looks like you've ripped them off. It's dehydrating for your nail bed. Although they may look good, there are other options out there that are a lot more healthy for your nail and look as good (if not BETTER!) The final affect can turn out really bad, being quite thick and can look quite fake.

 

Bio Sculpture Gel Nails

This is what I currently have. They work well for me because my nail bed is still healing from acrylics, so they are quite weak. Bio gel provides a thick coat of gel with a range of colours, including french tips.  You can also get length added on. However they are not as thick as acrylics, and are hydrating for the nail bed. Also, they dry within 2 minutes and don't require hardcore buffing - just a nice light buff that doesn't thin out your nail too much! I definitely recommend these if your nails are still healing, you're trying to strengthen them or you are trying to grow them. When they get taken off the nails do not looked ripped like above. In fact, my ones looked healthier than they ever have. They last for 3-4 weeks and look fantastic!

Shellac

THIS STUFF IS NEWS TO ME! It's thickness is in between bio gel and the natural nail. It's pretty much just a very, very thick gel nail polish - but not as strong as bio gel. I have never had this done but am definitely planning to once my nail bed is healed and strong. It doesn't cost as much as bio gel and looks fantastic - I have seen people with it on. They come in a wide range of colours so you don't have a reason not to choose them! There's no dry time and the colour lasts for 2 weeks. If your nails are healthy and everything but have a tendency to break easily I would recommend these. A great alternative!

And finally... a normal manicure.

Have the most amazing nails ever? Make everybody else jealous because your nails are really strong and never break? Well firstly, screw you, and secondly, a normal manicure is just for you! If you're lucky you might get a hand massage with it along with cuticle treatment, a light buff, nail shaping and a nice colour to go on top. Just don't go and do this...

random little things that make me happy

FIRSTLY, I AM IN A MUSIC VIDEO CLIP. At the very beginning they show images of my top and some of my face. And then at 1.15 I'm at the very right. And then just randomly throughout the clip. Wooo! I feel famous!

The singer is Sabrina Mitwali - she's from Sydney and is absolutely fantastic. I was lucky enough to interview her on Saturday Vibe and she's really lovely. Her voice is amazing and she's got a great team behind her, as you can tell from the standard of the video clip. I could easily imagine her song being popular on the billboard charts! Everyone support this talented girl! 

SECONDLY, WHEN I GOOGLED MYSELF...

THIS HAPPENED. Do you know how happy this makes me feel? Google recognises me as a radio person, Australian and a big fan of Delta Goodrem! WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT I AM!
