Love Life

Made a trip to Typo today to find these awesome block letters for such a cheap price! I got 5 of them for about $16 which I was really pleased with. I love how bold they are and add a very simplistic feel to a room without sacrificing creativity. Decided on "<3 LIFE" because that's pretty much something I live by every day. It's important to love living and enjoy every day no matter what is thrown at you. So it's just a little reminder to myself, hehe.

I've also suddenly had an urge to read books. Don't know what it is. But I thought I'd start by revisiting a novel I enjoyed most. The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield is one of the best books I've read... not that I can talk, I'm really not a wide reader. However this novel is riveting. It's so haunting... but it keeps you hooked. It's beautifully written as well. Must keep reading more novels. Any suggestions?

Shellac

A while ago I posted about nails and all the options available. Before then, I was one of those people that always had acrylics on... until I realised that the damage was horrific. So about 6 or 7 months ago I started the healing process whilst still keeping my nails looking fabulous. That was bio sculpture gel. Expensive as it was, they were wonderful. I felt like I could do anything cause my nails were so strong! And the colours... endless choices. Anyhoo.

So my nails are kind of cured now, only a couple of millimetres yet to grow out: nevertheless, I have moved on to the next stage. That's Shellac. It's similar to bio sculpture, only more affordable and not so thick. The only downside is that it lasts for half the time - but who cares?! Because it's amazing! There aren't as many options with colours, but if you're only concerned with strength it's a great choice... you can just paint over them with your own nail polish!

If you want to get your nails done (acrylics, bio sculpture, shellac or even a simple manicure) I would love to take this opportunity to recommend my nail artist Lisa. She is super sweet and does an amazing job. She's qualified too! AND her prices are well reasonable. Click here to check out her website and make an appointment.

So yeah, I got this dark grey colour this time. Pretty sweet. And once the weather gets better I might paint orange over the top...

Versatility

This is a small post to show you the stuff I've added to my wardrobe recently! Wahoo.

Thanks to Oroton I won this laptop bag at Vogue's Fashion Night Out! I have to admit, when I saw the picture, I was a tad horrified. I've never been the biggest fan of animal prints. However this bag is absolutely stunning. It somehow manages to match with everything and fits my MacBook, wallet, sunglasses and all my other essentials. Perfect for uni! The interior is amazing as well - really soft and excellent quality.

I ordered these bright blue harem trousers from ASOS last week and they arrived this morning - totally stoked! The colour is fantastic and I love them because they are the only coloured trousers I own. I actually hate wearing jeans so I've had to resort to plain leggings for winter and shorts for summer. I'm super excited to wear these in the next few months - they're all loose and cool and bright and different to anything else I own!

I know what you're thinking. The answer is no, I did not spend a grand on 3 YSL rings. They're fake. I hate to admit it, and as amazing as YSL rings are, I would never, ever spend $300 on a ring. Even if it was gold. However I did snatch up these beauties online - completely fake, but still have the same look! And I got the owl necklace for a bargain at only $5... I couldn't help myself. It seems my gold jewellery collection is growing which I'm excited about as I've always been a silver girl.

I Heart Frankie

If you've spent time with me in the past couple of months you are probably aware of my growing magazine obsession. I've come to love them again. I used to be obsessed with magazines, I have countless issues of Dolly and Girlfriend tucked away in cupboards somewhere. However there came that time when I was just "too cool" and "too grown-up" to read those magazines. But I still wasn't allowed to move onto Cleo and Cosmo. So my magazine-reading ritual was at a halt. BUT NEVER FEAR, it's back again thanks to the lovely Marni who allowed me to read her issue of Shop on the way home from uni.

Since then I've tried out different magazines and come to appreciate what each one stands for. The other day I picked up Frankie Magazine simply because of the pretty pages (superficial, I know). But I absolutely adore all the photographs in the magazine, the matte-finish pages and the simplistic design. Most of all though, I love reading the articles.

I don't think I've come across a magazine like this before. It's got so many interesting interviews, written experiences and life that's captured within the pages. I read the whole thing in two days and am quite sad that it only comes out every two months - now I have to wait until November to read the next issue.

So I guess this is just a little post to show my appreciation for beautifully written articles, the smell of new paper and simplicity we see through photographs and design.

Buy Frankie. It's worth a read.

Procrasticleaning

I do apologise for the lack of posts. The truth is, I got a bit bored of posting photos of new clothes I bought. Although my wardrobe has been updated quite the plenty over the past couple of weeks (and my bank account severely robbed), I just have not had the motivation to lay them out, take nice photos and show everyone. I don't know why. However. Upon the decision to skip my tutorial in order to work on my many assignments today, I found myself pumping up the music and cleaning what was a room that looked like it had been trashed. Now? It looks awesome. I got rid of old photos in frames of people I didn't even speak to anymore and printed out some fresh ones. I got out the windex and wiped down all the surfaces. And I rearranged all the various bottles of perfume, moisturiser and what not. And I found myself with the following.

Photographs of my precious ones. From left to right: Jazz, Marni, Sam and Sanj.

My growing magazine collection. What is that fat binded book on the end, you ask? Well it's a scrapbook made my my closest friend for my 16th birthday. It really is a masterpiece, featuring many embarrassing photos and wonderful messages.

My current favourite magazines are Shop and Frankie. Vogue is okay. But if you ask me, flipping through pages filled with clothes that look like they belong in a museum combined with the odd piece you'd actually want to wear that's worth over $3,000, is a little bit confidence-shattering. Frankie is just... inspirational. I feel like it's Tumblr in a magazine. With cool photo effects, weird fonts and matte finish paper.

Daisy Eau So Fresh by Marc Jacobs on the left there. Wearing this amazing scent every day. And my new love, Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector. Goodbye bronzer and clogged pores, hello natural glow and hydrated skin!

How I store my jewellery. Bracelets, rings, earrings and necklaces. But you know what, I'm so sick of my  silver jewellery turning brown. It's time to man up, save some money and invest in some sterling silver. In love with the stuff from Magnolia Silver Jewellery and this random one-off shop in St Ives. Love love love.

And, finally my workspace. Awesome stereo system with a massive subwoofer hidden under the bed. So when I play those tunes it really is music to my ears. My MacBook (RIP Steve Jobs). iPhone, and a wonderful view of my huge green backyard, with the occasional sleeping owl in the tree.

I hope I've bored you enough, sorry about that. Until next time... X
